Live Report From Callisto In Athens

2 min read

The place was good but the timing bad cause at the same day there was another band of the atmospheric rock scene playing in an other venue. So in this concert the club was empty and only few of us we would attend the concert that had a private character…but fortunately the next day, the band would play again for their fans.

Callisto is a band that combines elements from various music areas but their music includes the minimalistic and psychedelic element that it’s the music identity of the band. From post rock to death metal, it’s a  path full of roller coaster sounds and attitudes and the band as you guessed follow this path.. When they came up on stage, we gathered in front of the stage to receive a better quality of the concert experience.  They started playing hypnotic, atmospheric music with heavy out breaks and the mix of two different voices and atmospheres. The singer Jani Ala-Hukkala has a voice that reminds me of the Alice In Chains psychedelic elements but the guitar player Markus Myllykangas usually plays the role of the  second voice with death metal screams and a heavier attitude. The other musicians chooce to accompany the psycedelic element of the band with distorted sounds that sound closer to  a post rock attitude but with a heavier direction.

The concert finished around 02:00 o clock and the few fans remained satisfied from the result and the feelings they received during the concert. Of course we all wished that the next day more people would reach the club to attend a heavy concert with a cheap ticket and an atmospheric attitude
