London After Midnight – Live in Athens, Greece (Kyttaro Club – June 7, 2019)

2 min read

The band London After Midnight played in Athens, Greece yesterday and the sound was not what would you characterize as great…There were issues probably with the sound engineer who kept the vocals down and you could hardly hear it. The other instruments were a bit loud, although I do not know who’s to blame for this fact (band or sound engineer). The situation was improved after 1 hour or so, but it’s a shame because we “lost” a great show.

The band’s powerful on stage with a great performance of their material and a dress code that reminds me of the old school Sunset Strip bands (Pretty Boy Floyd, etc.) The musicians showed true professionalism despite the preventing factors. They did their best and offered a show full of music, colors and meaningful environmental/political visuals with the help of a projector. We saw visuals about Donald Trump, environmental pollution and scenes from old horror movies. The audience became “political” upon watching the images/videos and started shouting political “slogans” to support the anti-Nazi speech of the singer Sean Brennan. The band enjoyed this interaction with the fans and played along the crowd’s united voice resulting in an improvised song! The music style of the concert ranged between 90s Goth and the early 00s Industrial scene, it was a perfect mix for all the fans that showed up. It was a small club show with an attendance between 200 – 300 people, from Goth-ers to Metalheads and beyond…

I am sure that most of the people enjoyed the show and will demand a comeback for the legendary band. Just make sure that it will be in a different live venue with a better sound!
