Actum Est – The Nine Circles

This emphasis on atmosphere and aesthetics is clearly evident in “The Nine Circles.” The song begins with piano melodies and ethereal sounds before changing to a black metal sound characteristic of the 1990s. The contrast between the gentle piano parts and the violent guitar riffs provides an interesting dynamic, adding dimension and mental tension to the work. Rather than being used as a basic introduction, the piano is a significant atmospheric element that contributes to the track’s dark and cinematic atmosphere. Musical elements from Rotting Christ, Moonspell, and Cradle of Filth may be heard throughout the track.
