MoulD – Πόσο Λυπάμαι
MoulD, a Cypriot multi-instrumentalist who began making music in Manchester around 2019, redefines “Πόσo Λυπάμαι,” a historic Greek ballad performed by Sofia Vebo in 1939, via a new urban prism. The song begins with nostalgic retro loops and changes into a sluggish, bass-driven hip-hop groove. Elements of the original song are either sampled or faithfully reworked, keeping the original emotional core while presenting it in a contemporary setting. The addition of an electric guitar adds a new dimension, connecting the past and present. As the song moves forward, the composition maintains based in a laid-back hip-hop structure while progressively becoming more intense. Around 2:08, the guitar takes on a larger segment, getting heavier. This change transforms the sound into a mix of hip-hop and heavy rock before it fades away. MoulD’s rendition of “Πόσo Λυπάμαι” is a unique remake that honours the tradition of the original while exploring new sound ground. It combines nostalgia with modern production.
