Avaland – Sail On
Avaland’s song “Sail On” is an important milestone in the band’s continuing conceptual world. He travels to the depths of Hell under the protection of the enigmatic Gypsum Flower, a symbolic stone first heard in the band’s earlier albums, under the guidance of the God of Time, who is disguised as the Ferryman Charon. Musically speaking, the song begins with epic metal rhythms that are reminding of Rhapsody of Fire and have a neoclassical influence. A heroic feeling is created by the orchestration and thundering tempo. The vocals begin with the story approach before progressively developing into a more dramatic, dynamic style that recalls Savatage’s theatrical power, finding a balance between calm sections and rising energy.
