Aggressors Poetry – We Rule Alone

Aggressors Poetry’s concept-driven progressive metal song “We Rule Alone” is about youth, strength, and the will to fight for one’s position among opponents. According to the band, the song explores the strength and resolve needed to maintain one’s position in the face of resistance. The song begins with a strong rock core enhanced by progressive parts typical of early Dream Theatre, Pain of Salvation, and even neo-progressive elements from the early 1980s. A multi-layered and musically ambitious opening is produced by that combination. The song takes on an almost operatic sound as it gets closer to the chorus. It is obvious that this is a story-driven composition rather than simply a heavy song due to the storytelling vocal performance, which supports the music’s conceptual nature. A futuristic and slightly distant feeling is added by minor vocal effects, which could represent the theme’s inner conflict or even a distance from emotion. Around 2:50, the heroic atmosphere grows stronger with a lyrical and epic guitar solo that is accompanied by marching-style drumming. The song’s huge, battlelike atmosphere is enhanced by the way melody and rhythm interact in this section. Overall, We Rule Alone is an epic progressive metal song that emphasises concept, dynamics, and dramatic storytelling.
