Nevaris – Remedy – Live
Agustín Nevaris’ song “Remedy (Live Studio Version)” shows his belief in the power of music to heal both the body and the mind. Originally written by Nevaris and Bill Laswell, this rendition achieves dimension thanks to Jonathan Maron’s fluid and expressive bass work, which maintains the performance’s improvisational spirit while keeping it balanced. The track begins with unusual percussion that recalls Brazilian rhythms, creating a beautiful, ritualistic atmosphere. Soon after, the saxophone enters with cool, 1980s-inspired jazz lines, leading the listener into a cross-genre groove that combines rock, Latin, and jazz styles. Despite the technical skill on showcase, the players never lose sight of the groove, allowing the composition to unfold in an exciting and organic way. Santana’s psychedelic Latin rock, Bob Marley’s dub aesthetic, and Miles Davis’ jazz experimentation are all obvious influences. While the piece might seem chaotic at first, this is part of its attraction: as the music progresses, it eventually takes on an organised form, enhanced by flowing psychedelic effects. The result is a colourful and peaceful live studio performance that feels both adventurous and intentional, with “Remedy” acting as a musical sanctuary for difficult times.
