Jah Wobble – Dub In The East
With “Dub In The East,” Jah Wobble maintains his recognized legacy as a sound trailblazer. Drawing on the ethnic mix of his East London upbringing, the track is a complicated atmospheric trip that pays tribute to dub roots while pushing them in “invisible,” unexpected ways.The tune begins with deep, reverbed bass tones, his unique characteristic, and gets the listener in a groove that feels both historic and nostalgic. However, this is not dub by the book. A kind, almost playful synth melody and light piano touches dance playfully over the powerful punch of the bass, resulting in an unusual contrast in mood and tone.
