Supa Philly – Look to the Sky-Philly Mix (Track review)

1 min read

Legendary Philadelphian band Supa Philly was created in 1977 from the greatest acts from NY, NJ, and PA. Some of its members were recording artists for Decca and Atlantic Records. The band’s UFO experience served as the inspiration for the song, which makes the case that if the inhabitants of these Superior UFOs appeared and interacted with one another, it may put an end to international hostility and threats against the Earth. The track is a professional Progressive Rock song with influences from bands such as Electric Light Orchestra, Pink Floyd, Supertramp and The Moody Blues. The orchestration is great, combining elements from both Pop and Rock, leading to the creation of a masterpiece that sounds like it was released in the 1970s. The lyrics that are related to the extraterrestrial experience of the band and the accompanying back vocals offer a cinematic atmosphere that would be great for a Sci-Fi soundtrack. Regardless of whether you believe in fairytales or not, I consider this band the Santa Claus of Prog music, carrying our favourite musical presents.
