Mercy On The Stairs – Shine
“Shine” creates a mysterious atmosphere by combining dreamy electronic synths with heavy guitars, drawing on influences ranging from Depeche Mode to Orgy. The guitars dominate the track, pushing it towards hard rock and occasionally recalling the sound of Puddle of Mudd, Staind, and even 3 Doors Down. While there are some production issues that come with the AI-generated nature of the track, particularly in terms of overall polish, the songwriting itself contains some interesting ideas. The arrangement gives the vocals plenty of room to develop, and the combination of layered vocal parts and rock guitars creates a surprisingly engaging contrast. The track works best when you look beyond the production and focus on the underlying musical ideas. There is enough atmosphere, guitar heaviness and vocal complexity here to make ‘Shine’ an interesting listen, especially for fans of the crossover between electronic darkness and mainstream modern rock.
