Gus Ormo – Latidos (AGAPE)
Pleasant melodies fill the audio spectrum, while panning effects create a pleasant and wide mood. A new-age orchestral approach filled with jazzy influences and soft electric elements provides a lovely and complex musical setting, similar to Yanni but filtered through a sophisticated lens. There are also times that remind me of Dream Theater’s warmer side, not necessarily because of the electric instruments, but because of the emotional tone and the way the piece develops its themes through a progressive structure. I especially liked the chorus, which, despite being an instrumental song, appears to push you away and take you somewhere else. The main musical phrase is quite calming, allowing the listener to simply follow along without feeling pressured. The use of orchestral sounds, jazz influences, slight electronics, and advanced songwriting results in a beautiful and comprehensive experience. “Latidos (AGAPE)” is a warm and expressive instrumental that communicates with melody rather than words, which is often all that is required.
