Lucio Moriyama – Ocean

Lucio Moriyama’s “Ocean” begins with gentle progressive rock influences and slowly develops into a sophisticated, progressive metal piece. The lyrical guitar work takes center stage, recalling Vinnie Moore’s expressive style and creating a dreamy while technically proficient atmosphere. Rather than depending exclusively on speed, the performance emphasises emotion, with each phrase contributing to the song’s developing melodic storyline. One of the track’s most striking sections is between 1:05 and 1:12, when the guitar performance becomes especially engaging. Every note feels precisely chosen, conveying both technical precision and emotional depth, as if each phrase makes a distinct impact on the listener. The production is also impressive, with a powerful and balanced sound that emphasises the precise musicianship. A little extra compression on the hi-hats could improve consistency, but this is a minor point in an otherwise smooth audio mix. Around 2:54, the composition takes another interesting turn as metalcore influences combine seamlessly with the progressive arrangement, adding further energy without jeopardising the song’s melody. The smooth combination of technical playing, striking melodies, and dynamic lyrics gives “Ocean” a unique and engaging personality. It’s a beautiful instrumental that will draw in fans of progressive metal and virtuoso guitar playing.
