Wicked June – Eat you Alive
The band’s “Eat You Alive” deals with the experience of arriving to a place like New York with huge dreams, only to be faced with undiscovered dangers that ignorance cannot easily detect. The contrasting energy and attitude of the music represent the idea of ambition meeting brutal reality. The song begins with a loud guitar-driven beginning that approaches an alternative rock take on Judas Priest’s classic heavy metal sound! As the song develops, it becomes rougher and more attitude-driven, mirroring bands like Garbage, combining rock ‘n’ roll energy with modern alternative sounds and the usage of cool, effective synths. The electric bass lines act as a strong rhythmic basis, creating groove and maintaining a consistent, engaging tempo throughout. This rhythmic core makes the song colourful and easily recognisable, allowing room for harder guitar work and electronic melodies. In terms of production, there is potential for improvement, especially in the bottom end, where more precise EQ and mastering might boost clarity and punch. However, the main composition is strong and straightforward, with a cult following similar of a 1990s MTV music video aesthetic.
