The Joy Thieves – The Wrong End of Your Rifle’ feat. Chris Connelly
Chicago alt-rock band The Joy Thieves return with an incredible new single, “The Wrong End of Your Rifle,” off their upcoming album Apocalypse Pending, which will be released on June 5th via Armalyte Industries. Chris Connelly, who has previously worked with Ministry, Revolting Cocks, and Pigface, gives a strong vocal performance on the single. The song begins with a modern industrial base, driven by fast-paced production that combines saxophone sounds, electric guitars, and slight dub elements. The tempo increases as the song moves forward, ending in a strong chorus that takes advantage of Bad Brains’ raw energy while also including Public Enemy-like beats. Connelly’s vocal style is strong and aggressive, which complements the track’s highly spirited and chaotic mood. The end result is a flowing but powerful composition, with hard rock guitar work driving the song through a deep industrial background. Lyrically, the song is an outspoken critique of violence, media distortion, and corporate control, with colourful and provocative imagery designed to emphasise its point.
