Blind Revolution – Far From the Sun Stories
1. What inspired you, Simone and Cristiano, to form Blind Revolution back in 2010 after your earlier musical experiences?
Simone : Blind Revolution was born out of the need to keep building on what we’d already started but this time with something meant to last. From day one, I had one clear idea: Max had to be in the band. That’s where everything took off.
2. How has being brothers influenced your songwriting and decision-making within the band?
Simone : Being brothers definitely shapes our songwriting; we grew up with the same influences and share a deep musical and emotional connection. When it comes to decisions, though, it doesn’t really matter, we’ve always run the band in a democratic way, with different roles and personalities.
3. Your sound is deeply rooted in 80s Hard Rock/AOR, what keeps that style relevant for you today?
Cristiano : Calling it “’80s hard rock” almost feels limiting nowadays. There are still so many bands carrying that sound forward. Sure, those are our roots, but at the end of the day, it’s about what still moves us: those melodies, that groove, that energy. It’s something instinctive, almost primal.
4. How did bands like Journey, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi shape the direction of Blind Revolution?
Angelo : Bands like Journey, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi are huge influences for us. They had that perfect balance: powerful, melodic, emotional, and instantly recognizable. As for me, I’ve been a die-hard Bon Jovi fan since I was a kid. They’ve had a massive impact on my musical journey.
5. What is the main concept or emotional core behind your new album Far From The Sun?
Cristiano : There’s no strict concept behind the album, each song stands on its own. The lyrics come straight from personal experiences and emotions. It’s a melodic rock record meant to hit you where it matters most. The title track, “Far From the Sun,” feels especially relevant right now; it really makes you think about how far we’re drifting from our humanity.
6. In what ways does Far From The Sun differ from your debut Money, Love, Light?
Massimiliano : Money, Love, Light took shape over seven years, and you can hear that evolution in the songs; we were still growing, still changing. Far From the Sun is a different story: it’s our most mature work. This time, it was all about the songs, even if that meant putting egos aside. These ten tracks are exactly who we are today.
7. The recording process faced delays, did that challenge ultimately improve the final result?
Cristiano : After releasing our last album, the pandemic shut everything down and we couldn’t hit the stage like we wanted. So we went straight back to writing. Things were slow at first; Giovanni was already losing motivation, and that held us back. But once Angelo joined, everything changed, we finished half the album in half the time. In the studio, we took our time to get everything exactly right.
8. How did you handle the departure of Giovanni Maucieri after ten years in the band?
Simone: We’re friends before bandmates, so Giovanni leaving was a heavy blow. In his final stretch with the band, he was becoming more and more distant, which slowed things down, but we were ready to wait for him because of how great he is, both as a drummer and as a person. He’ll always mean a lot to us. It was tough when he left, but Angelo came in and brought the energy we needed to move forward.
9. What did Angelo Moretto bring to the band that made him the right choice as your new drummer?
Massimiliano: Angelo brought a massive burst of energy into the band. The spark had faded a bit, but he came in and lit a fire under everything. Young, driven, and full of passion; and on top of that, he genuinely loves this genre. That makes a huge difference.
10. What do you hope listeners take away after experiencing Far From The Sun?
Cristiano : We’re extremely proud of this record. If people connect with it even half as much as we do, that’s already a win for us. We just hope it carries our passion across and that people feel the same love we have for what still sets our hearts on fire: rock ’n’ roll.
