Vitto – Vitto (EP)
Vitto, an internationally known transgender composer and multidisciplinary artist, presents a very personal and stylistically diverse approach to his self-titled EP. Known for winning three Cannes Lions Awards for the campaign “Me feat. Me” in collaboration with Nosotras, DDB Chile, and Wise Innovation.
1. Song for Her: The EP begins with soft guitar strumming, which creates a nice Americana mood. The clean vocal performance, along with a professional but natural production, gives the tune a country-inspired atmosphere, while the melodic vocal style leans toward easy to follow pop structure.
2. Fade Away: “Fade Away” is a mid-tempo acoustic ballad driven by Vitto’s energetic vocals. The arrangement is simple but effective, resulting in an easy-listening folk composition with a gentle groove and a powerful expressive core. Its warmth and authenticity make it one of the EP’s most attractive tracks.
3. Autoexilio: This track mirrors Simon and Garfunkel’s soft, lyrical aesthetic from the 1960s. Despite being presented in a language other than English, its emotional impact crosses linguistic limits, offering a peaceful and universally accessible listening experience.
4. Will I Redeem Myself?: This song introduces a change in pace, starting with vibrant electric guitar lines and a well-balanced mix that emphasises groove and rhythm. There are structural and artistic similarities with Paul McCartney’s solo work, particularly in the melodic composition and light, engaging mood. It’s a track that encourages both active listening and easy pleasure.
5. Barco Nuevo, Capitán Viejo: This acoustic ballad closes the EP on a more personal note, with a stripped-down sound that feels almost like a private bedroom recording. This minimalism works in its favour by emphasising the vocal performance and allowing the song’s emotional complexity to be delivered clearly and honestly.
Overall, Vitto is a consistent and sincere EP that combines folk, country, and pop genres to create a cosy, soulful listening experience. Its power lies in its honesty and melodic purity, resulting in a compilation of songs that are both unique and culturally meaningful.
