1+1+1 – Baby Mansion

The song begins with an energy of 1990s alternative-rock force, packed in a grungy garage-band vibe. You can obviously detect Pixies and Nirvana influences, as well as the powerful punch of pop-punk artists like Green Day. Sharp, rough guitars cut through the mix, and raw, somewhat unclean vocals add to the dark, rehearsal-room vibe. There’s a youthful, upbeat energy that feels like you’re walking into a live gig in a mid-’90s college basement in the United States, sweaty, loud, and nostalgic in all the right ways. “1+1+1” not only sounds like it’s from that era, but it also brings back memories of the 1990s. The song’s production purposefully maintains a rough edge, lending it the real DIY character that defined so many popular underground albums of the time. The drums have a fluid, almost demo-like nature, and the bass drives the rhythm with a warm, somewhat muddy sound that complements the mood wonderfully.
