Nate Todd – Tellus

Nate Todd’s “Tellus” is a strong combination of modern psych-rock and old folk sounds, successfully created through multilayered production. The music begins with beautiful synth sounds that flow over the stereo field, moving smoothly from left to right thanks to great panning effects. Around 0:50, the introduction of acoustic guitar and drums provides a groovy base, giving the song a neo-psychedelic vibe similar with Tame Impala’s dreamy soundscapes. The vocals, enhanced by light distortion and futuristic effects, add to the indie/psych rock mood, working well with the flowing musical elements. Beneath the psychedelic surface, there’s a strong folk root, and the acoustic background pays tribute to Neil Young’s organic sound, grounding the music in comfort and folk nostalgia. As the song progresses, notably at 3:40, prog-influenced synths appear, giving a deeper and layered structure characteristic of Rush. The combination of classic and modern elements makes “Tellus” sound lush and musically adventurous. Overall, “Tellus” is a colorful and fascinating psych-folk adventure with loads of complexity, rhythm, and creative production.
