Sylvie Fisichella – De l’autre côté du miroir

Sylvie Fisichella’s “De l’autre côté du miroir” is a wonderful trip through progressive and jazz-inspired sounds that recalls the adventurous spirit of great groups such as Gong, Magma, and Renaissance. From the first bars, the track’s rhythmic complexity and varied orchestration take the listener to a the cosmos where prog rock and jazz fusion mix harmoniously. The female vocals provide an appropriate counterpoint to this sophisticated musical structure. They speak with warmth and precision, giving deeper meaning and melodic purity to the complicated musical structure. The vocals, sung in French, have a retro elegance that enhances the track’s atmosphere while additionally offering it a classic, almost cinematic character. Musically, the piece has slight references to Robert Fripp’s  unpredictable guitar approach, creating a progressive rock element that pairs wonderfully with the less harsh jazz harmonies. The combination of critical intensity and lyrical warmth maintains the song in continuous motion, switching between peaceful, atmospheric parts and strong, dramatic peaks. The total result is mentally stimulating and rewarding. “De l’autre côté du miroir” is an amazing composition, recalling the golden age of prog.
