Frayser Blvd – Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo
Frayser Blvd pays a tribute to the 1973 era-defining song “Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo,” originally recorded by the famous Rick Derringer. This version doesn’t just cover old ground; it improves it. From the first riff, the music screams professional audio production (wonderful mastering!), finding a mix between real tribute and up-to-date sound. The guitars maintain the bluesy attitude that made the original so popular, but they now have a cleaner, more powerful tone thanks to new mixing that adds power without losing soul. Frayser Blvd’s vocals are slightly rougher and more strong, particularly in the chorus, bringing the song towards a Southern rock side. This vocal roughness enhances the song’s manic adrenaline while keeping appreciative of Derringer’s bluesy attitude. It’s loud, cool, and undoubtedly enjoyable. A worthy remake with its own character.
