Nicolas Willot – Story of an Erratic

Nicolas Willot’s “Story of an Erratic” is a dark, sad track full of nostalgia and calm passion. The song’s first seconds create a clear, cinematic sound with reverbed electric guitar and a relaxed, groovy beat that recalls the atmospheric beauty of 1960s rock. There’s a little tribute to the sounds of early psychedelic music, but the feeling behind it feel more particular. As Willot’s vocals enter, the influence of Leonard Cohen becomes clear. His approach balances singing and narration, bringing the listener in with a gentle connection that fits the song’s inner tone. The music acts as both a location and a character, with its noir-like aura expressing the protagonist’s inside world. Lyrically, “Story of an Erratic” tells the story of a guy stranded in a dystopian society who struggles with philosophical thoughts. The song’s tempo represents a slow awareness of someone face a world gone wrong and the broken pieces of self left behind. At 2:20, an electric guitar solo appears, providing a darker, more aggressive strength to the song. This feels like an important moment as the story moves into darker terrain. The solo is not overpowering the track, but rather leads it to a sensitive but strong conclusion. Nicolas Willot has created a sad, self-critical, and  powerful track reminding of a lost scene from a black-and-white film.
