Kevin C. Browne – Here Is Johnny
Kevin C. Browne’s “Here Is Johnny” begins on with a raw, rebellious spirit mixed with 1960s rock ‘n’ roll confidence. The music, typical of early The Who, your attention with punchy guitar hooks and a loud attitude straight out of a British Invasion garage. Browne’s wild vocal performance is without a doubt the track’s standout. His vocal style has a rebellious, streetwise edge that fits the song’s mood, part opposition, part primal release. The mix, however, could benefit from some strengthening. While the vocals take a punch, the music feel somewhat buried, especially during the more aggressive moments. A greater balance of vocals and music would increase the song’s operation, allowing Browne’s vocal performance to come through without clashing with the background music. Despite this, “Here Is Johnny” is an attractive single that has a lot of promise. It’s has all the necessary elements: outstanding guitar work, strong vocals, and a classic rock attitude. With more production improvement, it might hit even harder and communicate its message more effectively. For fans of nostalgic rock, this is an interesting listen.
