Fabrice Duval & SkyCall – Wendy

2 min read

The latest song from SkyCall, “Wendy,” features a promising sound revealed by Fabrice Duval, the neuropsychiatrist turned “rockstar” from Colmar, Alsace. Even though it’s still in its early stages, this demo features a unique blend of country rock and blues rock with a vintage feel that’s reminiscent of the 1970s and is clearly influenced by legendary guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Uli Jon Roth. The first few notes create the mood right away, displaying Duval’s command of the guitar and his extensive background in music. The vocals have a nostalgic quality that takes listeners back to the glory days of the rock era. Throughout the song, Duval’s guitar performance becomes stronger and stronger. At 1:47, he plays a particularly beautiful solo that shows his expertise of technique and depth of feeling. “Wendy” is a well-written song despite being a demo, with a catchy orchestration that combines traditional rock and groovy elements. There’s an obvious chemistry in SkyCall, with Amanda S.’s drumming and Luc Erwin’s bass setting a strong groundwork for Duval’s guitar experiments. While there’s room for refinement and development, particularly in terms of mastering quality, the potential of SkyCall and Fabrice Duval’s musical vision is evident. With continued growth and honing of their distinctive sound, this power trio from Colmar could make significant waves in the rock scene,
