ChemaX27 – Building Dreams  (Track Review)

1 min read

Chema Martinez, is a Spanish composer and producer who started at the age of 15 with the first bands. The track “Building Dreams” is actually building different soundscapes upon a main classical/cinematic musical phrase. The song begins as a New Age piece and continues until the first minute, when it changes moods, music genres, and time signatures while maintaining its basic musical phrase. The musical journey on this track begins with Electronic music and travels through Classical Music and Rock Opera. While this musical journey attracts the listener from the first note, from my perspective, I would need the composer to focus on the main classical musical phrase and augment it in the same style without jumping to other genres that might confuse the basic fan. The main musical idea is so damn interesting that less time and space is required for the transition to other music genres. Moreover, on the music production level, some parts sound a bit artificial, probably because the music comes from digital musical instruments. In order to make the music sound physical and compete with the other cinematic tracks in the market, I would devote more time to the mastering process to improve the final result. As I said, the main musical phrase is OK; the artist just needs to focus and work on it rather than blending other music genres inside the track.
