Barking Poets – We Will Overcome (Track Review)
The melodic Punk rockers from London, share with us a new song that reflects on the musical mirror their obvious influences: From Green Day’s Pop-Punk to Foo Fighters’ modern Punk to the 1970s Oi! Movement The track is a catchy rock song, with all the members singing the lyrics and creating a happy vibe for the listeners. The orchestration is based on the typical bass/drums/guitar rhythm section but offers a fairly balanced version of electricity, adopting elements from both Alternative Rock and Punk Rock. The lyrics of the band fall into the category of the socially correct and “politically incorrect” (for some people) subjects of Climate Change, Racism, Austerity or Populist Politics. The production sounds OK and modern, although some Punk bands would adopt a “filthy” sound to transform their thoughts into angry songs. However, I understand that in 2022, what really matters is a modern production to attract fans from both mainstream and underground music networks.
