Hot Flowers – I don’t know (track)

1 min read

The introductive guitar part sounds like early Pink Floyd and The Stooges Proto-Punk tunes combined, such a nice and catchy idea to draw the interest of the listeners. The drum part breaks into the audible landscape as a bridge to the entrance of the vocal lines that express a protesting message to love with angry but true lyrics… “I don’t know, I love you” screams the singer of the band Hot Flowers. The short guitar solo and the rhythmic guitar parts are the Post-Punk identification of the band that is also revealed through the tone and the raw sound of the electric guitars. My perception of this track is that it has a quick and smart way of attracting the listener from the beginning, as I continue listening to the song, I feel that this cool atmosphere will not remain throughout the whole song. I feel that the guitar-driven sound of the band needs an extra boost to keep the listener in the track. My advice would probably be to add an unexpected mid-tempo part in the middle of the track and then a repeat of the initial guitar riff in the track in order to re-gain the listener and make him/her become part of the cool guitar riff that I listened to when I pressed the Play button.
