CRISIS – Revenge Is Sweet (Steelwork Maschine)

2 min read

Eventually, 17 years since the last time music was published on CD, Crisis, the punk band that invented the term “Music to March To,” has released a new historical compilation accompanied by a 7″ e.p. in three distinct vinyl formats: 1. CD+7″ Splatter: 200 copies ( includes exclusive Crisis patch), 2. CD+7″ Picture disc: 512 copies, 3. CD+7″ Black: 293 copies.

Doug Pearce and Tony Wakeford formed the band in the violent, ground zero year of 1977 in the United Kingdom, and they performed many shows for Rock Against Racism, the Anti-Nazi League, and at Right to Work protests before parting in 1980 and forming “Death In June.” The classic Punk sound of Crisis is an outstanding instance of the rebellious working class society of the 1970s: Loud guitars, DIY music production and passion for underground stardom. If you are familiar with the early sound of The Fall and The Clash, then I am sure that you will love this album. By diving deeper in the context of the album, it is easy to understand that the lyrics act as an evangelistic prophecy of a collapsing political system who surpasses youth and fosters the fake, show-off attitude of the elitist British society, “No Town Hall” and “Holocaust” warns the listeners for the catastrophe…

Congratulations to the label for releasing such a great package, including both CD and vinyl in this format. This is a historic limited edition release that is worth checking out for substantial reasons, history repeats itself and we are experiencing a new political catastrophe during, and after the Covid disease. This album is more relevant to the current situation than ever.
