ROSETTA STONE Release “SHOCK”ing New Single, Announce New Album!

After a 19-year hiatus, gothic mastermind Porl King revived his groundbreaking band Rosetta Stone for the widely praised 2019 album Seems Like Forever. Fresh from the success of that release, King has returned again with another album of darkly romantic melodies, Cryptology, that will take fans back to goth’s heyday. King’s songwriting has only grown stronger since his debut in the early ‘90s and these 10 original tracks demonstrate it fully. Just check out the first single from the album, the propulsive “Shock,” whose chorus centers on the refrain “It won’t ever happen here / It’s happened here,” a disbelief we see expressed all over this world engulfed in a global pandemic, climate catastrophes, social upheavals and political unrest. 

As King himself states, “‘Shock’ – probably my favourite track from the album – lyrically an ambiguous mix regarding my return – and the news I was following at the time regarding a small virus outbreak in China. Musically, I like the dry crunch and demo feel. Hopefully, I can write more with a similar feel in the future.”

The new full-length album, Cryptology, will be available on CD and limited edition vinyl in your choice of purple or classic black starting September 25 from Cleopatra Records.
