Popularity of second hand Rock music in Europe

Nowadays, it is hard to estimate the sum of the second hand music that is being sold online because there are no official statistics about it, however an estimation of this type would be helpful for the potential sellers and buyers of music.  The popularity of a release that was released in a country, may affect the demand for releases that come from this country because it reveals how rare or not are the releases from this country. I created a popularity index of second hand rock music based on information retrieved (14th September 2016) from the popular music market website Discogs.com

The list of the countries includes all the European countries that were mentioned on the website according to the origin of the market of the release regardless of the release’s physical format. This list does not include records that were describing 2 regions under the same name such as “UK-Ireland”, “US-Europe”, however those records were few. The music genre that was chosen for analysis, is Rock music including its subgenres. Although this index does not represent the 100% of the accuracy of the data because you never know if the Discogs contributor always mentions the right country of the release’s origin, it is a useful guide to review the market’s status.
