Pavlov’s Dog Live In Athens – Greece

2 min read

After 2 years of waiting, Athenians had the chance to attend Pavlov’s Dog live in a different place and area. Plaka is a tourist oriented area with many taverns, ouzeri, bars and a beautiful road to walk and enjoy the great view from Acropolis. Zygos is a live venue that it has always been a place to enjoy traditional Greek music and local pop / rock artists.

The working day and the low economic situation in Greece didn’t t seem to help for the public attendance but regardless of that almost 500 people showed up and it made the show a successful one. The first band, Rock Lace, started playing around 21:30 when the first tunes of “Because The Night” from Patty Smith warmed the audience. For almost 30 minutes they entertained us with a mix of technical rock with pop melodies by the good looking singer and her professional voice.

Pavlov’s Dog came on stage at 22:30 and the audience’s applause filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm. This time the band has a new album and they are in the start of the tour but they were unlucky, as their original drummer due to an urgent health issue was taken to the hospital and escaped from the worst scenario at the last moment. So, Manfred, the producer of their latest album took over the drums until the original drummer recovers.

David along with his wife Sara maintain the tradition of the band’s history and the other members were younger and carry on keeping the spirit alive. There were 7 persons on stage, 3 women and 4 men so the music has a female feeling as well that fit with the atmospheric sound of Pavlov’s Dog. The whole play list of the band is based on the first album but we also had the chance to hear a few songs from the later releases and a cool new song from their new album. The title of the new track called “Angeline” if I remember well and it was awesome…I hope all the new album is like that! There were a few sound problems that David and the band got over with humor, sincerity and respect for their fans. The show lasted for 2 hours and I was impressed by the fact that no one left the place to get hurry for the last transportation medium, everyone stayed until the end just to hear the beautiful lyrics and music of  “Julia”.
