COWBOY PROSTITUTES..Job For A Cowboy !

Interview with Luca

1. I have read in our official MySpace page that they’re not part of the so called “Swedish sleaze”… they are in a league of their own . Why this statement and how you describe yourselves in musical level?

-L: I think this all “Sleaze” thing is so boring. I mean, we don’t use kilos of hairspray and don’t give a fuck of what we wear and still people have being putting us in this “Swedish Sleaze” category just cause they don’t know what to do with us. We play Rock, the way that comes from your heart. Personally I think that the “Swedish Sleaze “ is a pile of wank! And I don’t wonna be part of it. I would tell you a lie if I said I didn’t
care about looking cool on stage: of course I do but it’s the way I think it’s cool. Plus: anyone can grow their hair and put on make-up… but can anyone play great Rock’n’Roll?

2. The last time we talked, you were in Retrospect records as far as I remember. Why did you leave this label and how did you sign with Nicotine Records?

-L: We left cause Retrospect was not promoting us the way we wanted. Nicotine Records on the other hand has put a lot of energy on us and is always willing to discuss new ideas and move forward in this music business which quite frankly sucks!

3. Your latest album is out. Can you tel me about it? What about music, production, recording, song writing process, etc.?

-L: I’ve recorded it in my studio in the space of about seven months. Youknow, to have your own studio means that you can take your time and make sure the songs really come out at they’re best. You don’t have to rush. I write the general ideas of the songs at home on my guitar and then bring them to rehearsal where we all add new parts and create the songs as they will actually be recorded.

4. I think you have also included music here, from your previous album. Right ?

-L: No. It’s all new stuff.

5. What about the lyrics, do you follow the usual “sex , drugs & rock n roll attitude”? Do you describe any personal experiences?

-L: I describe life in general: what I see and what I’ve seen. That might include sex or drugs but that’s just the way life is, no?

6. Your music is mainly punk guitar driven but keyboards have the first role in chosen points. Any comments about it?

-L: I was very skeptical about having keyboards from the very beginning of Cowboy Prostitutes. But I have to say that it makes a difference and
gives us a twist of originality that other bands don’t have.

7. What about the artwork, is there any special concept behind the cowboy woman? Also how the cowboy woman represents the music of the band?

-L: She’s real life nude and crude. She’s not pretty but very honest and in your face. In a city most people choose to walk on the main high street… I choose the dark alleys, cause I find that more interesting… and that’s where you bump into characters like our cowgirl… Our music
is that way too: direct and honest: we just wonna play and make you have a good time!

8. You shot a video for Pirate Town song. Are you satisfied about it? Tell me about the whole process…

-L: I think the video is cool. Process? We rented a bar for a day, brought some friends with us and got really drunk. Ordinary stuff.

9. Dan Swano mixed the album, how was the cooperation with him?

-L: It was great. Dan is the kind of guy everyone wants when ot come to mix and master. It made us sound fantastic and I’ll always be grateful for that.

10. Any plans for touring?

-L: That’s what we’re organizing right now. We should begin with Germany and Austria in the fall and hopefully Italy and Spain a bit later. We would also like to come to Greece. We’ll see what Nicotine has planned. Stay tuned on our myspace to check the latest news and hopefully we’ll be heading your way.
