TWISTED TOWER DIRE
Interview with Tony Taylor
1. What does the name of the group mean ?
The name of the band comes from a legend of a clan that burned a witch back in early times of history. She placed a curse on the clan, their castle and all that fell under the shadow of the tower.Basically placing those involved into 1000 years of sorrow, pain and misfortune. A previous member of the band came up with the idea but Scott (guitarist) had the vision to expand the theme base the foundation of our music around this horrible tale.
2. Which is the “epic war” and what is the meaning of the words :”Epic war Never stops” ?
This song is about the inevitable battle between all true warriors of metal against all trendy, gothic, rapping homos who disgrace the world music scene with their poisen. We hereby issue the call to those around the world to unite in our battle and strengthen the masses to restore “REAL” music to the forefront.
3. Are you satisfied with the production of the demo The curse of the twisted tower and is this sound that you had in your mind for the album , or you were expected something more ?
Not at all, the production is very disappointing. A lot of the feel of the songs are lost in the muddy sound. I also really think the album could have done more for the band if we had a better sound. We tried for an “old school” sound, very raw and energetic but as you have probably heard the power that we project is kinda lost.Money played an important factor in this but also inexperience on the mixing board is obvious. It is still a must have for all true warriors of metal because if you look past the production, crank-up the volume, close your eyes you will enter our realm.
4. Any impressions from the Wacken festival that you have played ?
The Wacken Open-air is easily the greatest metal show in the world. Not just the bands but the people you walk around and meet, drink beer with, and just hang-out is tremendous. You must go to Germany once in your life to attend. We recieved a great response during our performance which gave me so much power to give back to the crowd. We recently added a video of Wacken to our website.
5. Have you thought to write about social / political problems in the lyrics of your future releases ?
There are already too many people in our society cramming their views, opinions and beliefs down our throats. I will never taint my music with my opinions. I show my feelings to these things through my everyday actions. I strive to be a leader and a role model to those around me by living my life with honor, helping the unfortunate ones, and doing my duties such as voting and reacting, even with violence at times,to show the hypocrites and weak-minded people of the world that there is still truth and honor in this jaded society. To show that people from poor and destructive backgrounds can rise up, work hard and be successful. No man or woman on this planet should wallow in self pity, there is always someone whose life is harder and worse.
In closing I would like to thank everyone who has supported our band, we are for real and if this is the last interview I would ever do
I can only say the metal fans of the world have given me happiness.Check out our website for updated Twisted Tower Dire info.
