EDENBRIDGE

1. First we can start with a question, where are you from?

Lanvall and myself are from Linz, the other 3 guys are from Vienna, Austria.
 
2. When is the first time that Edenbridge exist?
 
Edenbridge started in 1998 and develpoped itself out of another project called Cascade. When drummer Roland entered the band the line-up was complete. We recorded “Sunrise in Eden” in 1999 on self-finance basis and sent it to about 30 labels around the world. Two weeks later Massacre records offered us a deal. The album was licensed to all important markets of the world (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, South and North America) and was a great success. In late 2000 we were on European tour with our labelmates Pink Cream 69 and Axxis. In July 2001 we recorded our second CD “Arcana” and up till now the CD is running very successfull as well.  

3.How you characterize your style of music?
 
The music is bombastic, melodic and my voice brings in something angelic, so “Angelic Bombast Metal” would be a good description. We have a wide variety of influences in our music and we also bring this on our albums. So the songs differ a lot from each other.

4. What the name Edenbridge means and how you get this name?Tell me the story if it is exist.
 
 Edenbridge is the name of a town in the county of Kent, England. That΄s where Lanvall picked up the name. The name itself has a very positive emission and it perfectly fits to our music.
 
 5. There are difference from the Sunrise to Arcana? And if it yes tell me these.
 
  The production is much better. We had a much more higher budget and that can be heard clearly. We decided not only to mix it in the House of Audio Studios in Germany but also to record it there. I also think that we made a big step in the songwriting process but that should be normal anyway. All in all it is a constant progress.
 
6.  Personaly, i am a big fan of female vocals in metal bands, also my top 3 woman singers are you, Tarja Turunen and Sharon Janny den Adel. Now tell me your opinion about woman and metal scene

Thanks for your compliments. I also like female singers in the metal scene because I like the variation. Metal was always dominated by men, so it΄s a good development that more women are into metal.
 
 7. Your favorite groups?
 
 My favorite bands are Queen, Heart, Survivor, Dare, Sonata Arctica, Shadow Gallery and a lot of other melodic metal bands. I also love great singers like Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman and musicals.
 
8. Have you ever come to Greece?
 
 I΄ve never been to Greece but I would really like to come there in the future for holidays and concerts.
 
9. Have you thoughts for a gig in Greece?
 
Of course we would like to play in Greece. Unfortunately our this years΄tour with Metalium won΄t lead us there, but I hope we can play there on our next tour. I heard that the fans are very enthusiastic there.
 
10. When we have your new cd?
 
 We will be back in the studio in November for our third CD. Lanvall has written 7 songs up to date and is working on two others at the moment. I guess the new CD will be out next February.
