Jack Quigley – Andalucia
The track opens with traditional percussion and an oriental-influenced female vocals, which give it an exotic character The piano then joins in playfully, and the arrangement develops into a fusion of ethnic music, jazz and hints of dance, driven by a deep beat. As the male vocals join in, the multicultural atmosphere of the song becomes more intriguing, with several layers working together without losing its groove. The saxophone adds a romantic and slightly psychedelic air, giving the track another unexpected dimension. A mysterious feeling runs throughout, and the production has enough depth to reward repeated listening. This is not a track that reveals everything immediately. Its unusual combination of ethnic influences, jazz elements, electronic rhythms and atmospheric vocals requires deeper listening before all the pieces start to connect. Once you give it that time, ‘Andalusia’ becomes an engaging and fascinating musical journey.
