Godpreya – Blocking Troops
‘Blocking Troops’ begins with an electric bass introducing the rhythm, which is then joined by the guitars playing a thrash-metal riff similar to those of Testament and Metallica. The guitar work immediately calls to mind classic metal, but when the vocals enter, the track slows down slightly before steadily building in energy again. The song is driven more by its riffs than by the raw power of the vocals, giving it a controlled and groovy character. There are also moments that recall early-1990s Ministry, particularly through the use of samples and industrial soundscapes. The arrangement feels like a puzzle made of different musical pieces, with unexpected changes rather than straightforward progression. It may take a few listens to fully appreciate how all these elements fit together, but that is also part of its appeal. ‘Blocking Troops’ rewards patience, gradually revealing its different layers and influences instead of giving everything away on the first listen.
