Trickster – Thank Fuck it’s Christmas (Track Review)
This is a humorous song with smart and real lyrics that deal with the ironic illusion that everybody should be happy at Christmas! On the contrary, the artist tells his personal story about strange and sad things that happened to him during the Christmas season. I’m not sure if the story is true, but his concept expresses the collective intelligence of modern society, which wears smiling masks for the holiday season just to make shopping fun and adopt a smile, with no one really caring about the reality. Besides the conceptual part, on the musical side of things, the artist chooses to mix orchestral Christmas music with modern slow Pop/Rock music. The singer is a baritone, and his tonality fits perfectly with the music and the concept. I am sure that someone who does not speak or understand English will appreciate this song for its catchy and melodic lines.
