Richard Evans – Aidoru

Richard Evans celebrates 2025 with Aidoru, an interesting electro-pop track that combines retro-futurism with a melancholic critique on artificial idols. The single, takes its name from the Japanese term for “idol” and explores the insecure existence of a virtual pop star – a construction intended just to please, singing about love without ever understanding it. Aidoru’s music is a synth-driven dream, merging 1990s electronic beats with Vangelis-style atmospherics and Gary Numan-inspired cyborg coldness. The production is heavily influenced by 1980s FM synth sounds, resulting in a balance of sad elegance and dance strength. Richard’s processed, vocoder vocals breathe life into his digital identity, making him sound like a teen idol from a dystopian future – emotionless but highly intriguing. The song’s dark drama is further heightened by its lyrics, which read like a devotion contract in which the idol exists exclusively to be “everything you want, everything you are.” The paradox is chilling: designed for the future, but unable to envision it. The use of vintage electro-pop inspirations and futuristic vocal distortion results in a “frightening,” attractive tune that feels like a lost broadcast from a neon-lit cityscape where love is algorithmic and ownership is temporary.
