Steve Lieberman – The Gangsta Rabbi

Steve Lieberman’s “GANGSTA RABBI” 2004 – LIVE IN DETROIT is a raw and angry explosion of noisy punk which reflects a period when his DIY philosophy was at its peak. Recorded on September 18, 2004, as part of the Arbeiter 455 tour, this performance signals the start of a year of building momentum that would end in his signing with JDub Records in 2009. Unlike polished, popular punk releases, this live performance lives on lo-fi harshness. Lieberman, a one-man-band dynamo, puts on a chaotic, and highly personal show. Using his bass and an Ebow, he creates a wall of sound that feels more like anarchy than a song. His characteristic aggressive vocal approach breaks through the distortion, emphasizing the raw emotion in his music. The song screams pure punk attitude, choosing authenticity over perfection. It’s a Punk assault that represents Lieberman’s unapologetic approach to music—a combination of hard rock, noise punk distortion, and an uncompromising DIY attitude.
