SICKY – Troubled Delight

Mick Butler’s solo project, SICKY, presents a cool mix of indie rock, Britpop, and glam-rock vibes on Troubled Delight. Butler, who is originally from the Black Country but now lives in Shropshire, creates music that pays tribute to the attitude of 1970s rock while also being deeply rooted in modern indie space. The album begins with Billy Cousins, an indie rock song that combines the casual cool of Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Beck’s different magnetism. Groovy beats, minor Soul references, and punk-inspired guitar work set the mood for an album full of variety. I’m Happy If You’re Happy has a unique glam rock energy, combining Marc Bolan-style extravagant with Britpop elegance à la Blur. Each track on the album has a unique character, but Butler’s signature glam-rock vocals bring everything together with an obvious almost sexy groove. The 1970s influences are there, but they’re reconsidered via a Britpop and indie rock lens, making the record sound both nostalgic and modern. Troubled Delight’s grooves are addictive from start to finish, whether with acoustic rhythms, electric guitar lines, or tight, funky percussion. Troubled Delight is a colorful, feel-good album that vibrates with energy and rock attitude, combining nostalgic inspiration with a modern indie twist. SICKY has created an album that is stylish and entertaining, ideal for fans of groovy rock music.
