Sun Atoms – Everything Forever

Sun Atoms, the brainchild of vocalist Jsun Atoms (The Upsidedown, Daydream Machine), features an impressive lineup of musicians, including producer and bassist Peter G. Holmström (The Dandy Warhols, Pete International Airport), multi-instrumentalist June Kang, saxophonist-trumpeter-guitarist Mars de Ponte (LoveBomb Go-Go), drummer Eric Rubalcava, and guitarist Derek Spencer Longoria-Gomez (Hi Hazel). They collaborate on an album that combines alternative rock, psychedelia, and electronica, embracing the atmospheric sounds of bands such as U2 and The Stone Roses but with a unique, up-to-date audio mix and mastering. The album begins with Take This Love, that establishes the scene with a groovy beat that takes center stage while maintaining space for electric guitar elements produced within an electronic setting. One of the standout tracks, Ceiling Tiles, features a perfectly clean mix, dreamy synths, and a vocal performance that acts as a psychedelic narration, taking the listener into a cosmic atmosphere. The interaction of electronic instruments and ethereal vocal performance creates a deeply pleasant state of mind. The album goes further into a darker, more romantic electronic vibe, most clearly shown by Idiot Speaker, in which Oriental acoustic sounds appear suddenly, providing a surrealistic layer to the music. This musical synthesis keeps the listener engaged as well as inspiring a sense of mystery and adventure. Narco Polo (Feat. Isaac Brock) is a surprising departure from the album’s previous direction, as it moves into a funky music area with some industrial harmonics. The track’s unorthodox approach may be confusing at first, but its experimental character soon becomes satisfying, reawakening the listener’s natural connection to beat and groove. Overall, Everything Forever is an ambitious album that refuses easy categorization. Sun Atoms combines alternative rock, psychedelic atmospheres, and electronic experiments to create a “moving” experience.
