SHAW’S TRAILER PARK – I Thought I Saw You…

Swamp Song/Irregular

Dist. Cargo

Release date 3 February 2025

File under Paisley Underground/Dustbowl Psych/Garage Americana

Having turned various heads with 2023’s self-titled debut album, Brighton quartet SHAW’S TRAILER PARK are back with a new collection of fuzzed out garage psych!  Not wanting to just try and repeat the first album’s live recording and straight in the can approach, I Thought I Saw You… sees them expand somewhat into a richer and more varied sound. But fear not! There’s still enough off-the-cuff fuzzed-out soloing and explosive rhythms to please the most hardened fan of their psych garage sound.

It’s been a busy eighteen months for the band: serendipitously breaking the surface around the time that Paisley Underground legends Rain Parade and The Dream Syndicate were both issuing new music and playing UK shows, the band’s sinuous soloing, lysergically droning rhythms and sunkissed harmonies were perfectly positioned to fall on approving ears. Which they duly did with key shows at Derby’s Dionysus Psych Fest, Beautiful Days and as special guests of Large Plants at London’s What’s Cookin’.

Shaw’s Trailer Park formed in 2021 by singer/guitarist Tim Sanpher, a veteran of North London transgressives John Wayne Army, birthed out of the same Bucketfull Of Brains-adored rockabilly/country-noir scene that gave us the likes of Gretschen Hofner, Gallon Drunk and The Flaming Stars. Following a move to Brighton, Tim set about building a band around the songs that have been gestating in his head; enter bassist Mark Wilson and drummer Andy Fraser. The three put in some months getting to learn each other’s styles and then, shortly before recording for the first time, Simon Smith was added on second guitar, filling out and defining the STP sound. More than the sum of their parts, the STP sound has expanded way beyond Tim’s original idea of a garage rock’n’roll combo to encompass Andy’s jazz-tinged rhythms, Mark’s krautrock and world music leanings and Simon’s Americana interests, capable of calling to mind anyone from Eddie & The Hot Rods to early Grateful Dead via Tinariwen and the Paul Butterfield Band’s monumental East West!

Shaw’s Trailer Park play What’s Cookin’, Leytonstone, London on 22 March 2025.

Park up, drop in, zone out!
