Beauty In Chaos – Dancing With Angels
Beauty In Chaos, led by Michael Ciravolo, continues its daring exploration of post-rock, gothic, and dream-pop worlds with Dancing With Angels. This newest CD combines dark, atmospheric elements with melodic rock emotions, bringing together a diverse group of creative musicians who form the album’s unique sound. Ciravolo sees Dancing With Angels, which he co-produced with Grammy-nominated producer Michael Rozon, as both a return to old sound ground and a step forward to new creative heights. The first track on the album is “Present Tense,” which features William Faith and Sarah Rose Faith. The song opens with a hard rock basis with a gothic twist, and the dual male and female voices create an ethereal atmosphere. There’s a darkwave vibe running throughout, symbolic of the romantic soundscapes of the 1980s. “The Devil You Know,” with Kat Leon, takes on a dreamier, more pop-driven tone. The music has a softer rock arrangement surrounded by rich soundscapes, with a production style inspired by the Cocteau Twins and shoegaze components. Leon’s vocals are pushing the song into pop arena while keeping a mood of sadness. “Diving For Pearls,” starring Wayne and Cinthya Hussey, is melodic rock with a strong inspiration by The Cure. It sounds like a love song, with dark, reverberating guitars creating a dark soundtrack for Wayne Hussey’s expressive performance. The song achieves a balance between darkness and light, with the chorus providing a sense of hope and optimism, making it one of the album’s outstanding moments. “Echoes and The Angels,” with Leo Luganskiy, features an unusual sound that feels placed in the 1990s before transforming into more dramatic environment around 0:48. The song has a slight Cranberries influence in the way it develops tension and it never loses its pop aesthetic. “Kiss Me (Goodbye),” featuring Julian Shah Tayler on vocals, is a powerful alt-rock track with elements of 1990s alternative rock vibe. Tayler’s vocal performance is reminding of David Bowie, creating a sense of elegance and mystery. The song’s catchy, radio-friendly atmosphere makes it one of the album’s more accessible pieces. “Hollow,” featuring Cynthia Isabella, is another beautiful pop-rock gem with a groovy rhythm section that pays tribute to 1990s mainstream rock. The guitar work reflects The Cure’s influence once more, although the song’s structure has a bluesy undertone. Isabella’s voice gives it a dreamy, ethereal aspect, making it sound warm. “Holy Ground,” featuring Patrik Mata, returns to goth rock area with a melodic edge. The guitars are harsher and more violent, but Mata’s vocals give the song a seductive, dark vibe. It’s a song that seems rested in gothic heritage while still embracing its modern musical direction. The album concludes with “Made of Rain,” featuring Ashton Nyte, a quiet, ambient ballad with emotional depth. Nyte’s vocal performance achieves a balance between vulnerability and strength, resulting in a spiritual experience that is cinematic. The album travels the listener through the shadows of goth, post-rock, dream-pop, and alternative rock, all while maintaining an aura of consistency and emotional depth. With each track offering an individual interpretation of atmospheric rock, it’s a strong, expressive record that will be of interest to fans of music’s darker, more romantic side.
