László Vadkerti – Crime scene
László Vadkerti’s “Crime Scene” offers an engaging audio picture, similar to the story behind its production. The music begins with mysterious electronic sounds that depict the feeling of an investigator entering an unusual crime scene. The minimalistic beat and trippy synthesizers begin to build the basis of this modern electronica song, as if pieces of a puzzle are slowly coming together. The ambiance is both frightening and attractive, drawing you right into the story’s unfolding. The track’s layered structure gets increasingly obvious as it continues. At 2:34, the electric guitar appears, bringing a strong contrast and a rock flavor to the mainly ambient electronic environment. This section is particularly interesting because it creates a dynamic tension between the electronic components and the guitar. The synthesizers in the background grow even more mysterious, increasing the suspense while the guitar attempts to make clear its presence. The FM synth lines are particularly impressive, adding to the track’s atmospheric depth. However, there is a distinct conflict in the mix between the guitar and the synthesizers as they compete for prominence, with the synths eventually taking the lead. While this clash provides an interesting depth to the composition, it also highlights the necessity for some minor mixing improvements. Despite this little issue, “Crime Scene” is an attractive instrumental that uses soundscapes to successfully tell a story. The way it progresses, alternating between minimalistic electronica and rock-infused cycles, keeps the listener interested, similar to a detective piecing together a complicated case.
