Nwah.yell – Valhalla: The Call of Fate

“Valhalla: The Call of Fate” by Nwah.yell is a strong and epic piece that  combines  drone sounds with grandiose cinematic elements, reflecting the mysticism and grandeur of old Scandinavian mythology. Remi Noyelle, the French-Australian music producer behind Nwah.yell, shows his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer, producing a sad and triumphant soundtrack. The music begins with deep, echoing drone noises that quickly establish a gloomy and mysterious atmosphere. As the piano and acoustic guitar gradually join the mix, the atmosphere gets warmer as the sense of anticipation grows. The initial vocals are ethereal and harmonic, creating a sense of tranquility that gradually changes as the first words, heavily influenced by Norse mythology, begin to unfold. At 1:45, the tune becomes more dramatic and grandiose, with more male vocals and thundering drumming similar to the strong, ritualistic sounds of bands such as Wardruna. This compositional transition raises the tune to a cinematic level, giving the impression that the music is narrating a big, old narrative. The female vocals, which become increasingly melodic and dramatic, contribute to the epic mood, adding layers of passion and grandeur. The lyrics of “Valhalla: The Call of Fate” are deep in Norse mythology, mentioning significant aspects such as Odin, Huginn and Muninn, Yggdrasil, and the mythical hall of Valhalla. The words not only add to the epic tale, but they also strike a deep chord with the music, as the images of gods, heroes, and the tragic battle of Ragnarök unfolds against the backdrop of the powerful, expansive soundtrack.
