SIR-VERE – Orbital Rocktronics Part 1 (Roy Hoy Remixes)

SIR-VERE’s “Orbital Rocktronics Part 1 (Roy Hoy Remixes)” is an unique collection of danceable songs with a rock edge. “Bop ’til You Drop,” the album’sfirst track, gets things going with a big beat that sounds like it belongs on The Chemical Brothers and Prodigy records. The second song, “I’m on Fire,” has a sound similar of Fatboy Slim and features strong dance elements and hip-hop samples. “Superstar” is the next track, which opens with an alternative rock guitar overlaid with a hazy sound effect. The vocals take on an almost punk feel that is carefully combined with dancing elements, particularly when the vocalist declares, “It’s party time.”A nostalgic touch is added to “Extra Beat in My Heart” with its opening breakbeat percussion and classic rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Dance and psychedelic elements are introduced in the remix, especially at 2:36 when the music pauses and then resumes. The song “Night Time” has a dancing beat, siren sounds, and voices that have been put through a vocoder to create a 90s vibe. “Growler” opens with dance sounds that overflow the whole mix and a remix of electric bass. The first bars of “All You Ever Do” feature interesting electric guitars and hypnotic voices that repeat phrases. The rock guitar that starts “The Crazies” has a Nirvana vibe to it, but the remix makes it seem more like a sample than a featured element of the song. The singer uses hip-hop methods and occasionally channeling David Bowie’s aesthetic. The dance-rock fusion of “Peer Pressure” keeps the album’s upbeat tempo going. Vocals kick off “Legion” right away, and then futuristic acid synthesizers create a sci-fi vibe. The phrase “My name is Legion” is repeated hypnotically. “My Mind” features electric guitar riffs and beats in the vein of Fatboy Slim. “This is Heaven” begins with experimental, faded-in guitars, building up to a danceable rhythm. Overall, “Orbital Rocktronics Part 1 (Roy Hoy Remixes)” is a pleasant album that combines rock and dance elements. The individual characteristics of each song might be enhanced by taking a more diversified approach in the remixes, such as playing with panning or adding rhythms with different BPMs. If you like 1990s dance music with an acid vibe, then you will enjoy this album!
