Then Comes Silence – Trickery

Located in Stockholm, Then Comes Silence is a post-punk band with a strong gothic influence that keeps making waves in the industry. Their most recent album, “Trickery,” provides proof of their developing sound and talent at creating spooky worlds with each note. “Ride or Die,” the album’s opening track, sets the mood with creepy guitar riffs that create a macabre labyrinth and rising bass lines that crawl under your skin. This song is a prime example of the band’s developed songwriting style, combining aspects of 69 Eyes and Fields Of The Nephilim influences into a unique aural universe. In line with this, “Like A Hammer” embraces the spirit of All Hallow’s Eve with a pulsating beat that is simultaneously thrilling and threatening. The whole album is filled with an unearthly atmosphere created by the combination of electric bass and synth work. Then Comes Silence keeps a constant mid-tempo beat throughout “Trickery,” letting the distorted guitars and bass attract the listener. Lyrically, “Stay Strange” and “The Masquerade” suggest dark, enigmatic narratives, further exploring the band’s passion for gothic aesthetics. The album’s production quality is one of its most notable features. Each instrument has a large canvas to shine on thanks to the superb mix. The record is pushed ahead by the electric bass in particular, whose dominating presence commands attention. This album doesn’t contain any filler songs; every song enhances the overall atmosphere. “Ghost House” and “Blind Eye” exhibit the band’s capacity to incorporate melancholic melodies and reflective lyrics into appealing narratives through their music. Then Comes Silence has created an album that engages listeners in an alternate universe of whispers and shadows, keeping them trapped in…
