Moonoises – Black Beyond

Moonoises, a band hailing from Brindisi, Italy, has created a dark journey with their track “Black Beyond.” The song brings back memories and influences that have shaped the band’s musical identity, seamlessly weaving through the tapestry of genres that defined the 1980s and early 1990s dark sound. The opening notes immediately immerse the listener in a heavy distortion reminiscent of the early Black Metal scene of the 1990s, evoking the dark and raw energy that characterized that era. The shadowy echoes of Fields of the Nephilim can also be heard, setting a haunting tone that becomes the foundation for what unfolds. Around the 0:48 mark, “Black Beyond” takes an intriguing turn, slowing down its pace and adopting a Post-Punk tempo. The transition introduces catchy bass lines, echoing influences from legendary bands like Bauhaus and Christian Death. The atmosphere deepens, and the spirit of Rozz Williams seems to possess the vocals of Tony Gianfreda, the lead singer. His voice weaves a dark narrative, drawing the listener into a world of melancholy and introspection. The musical landscape becomes a dynamic rollercoaster of emotions, shifting seamlessly between harder and softer elements. This mirrors the vocalist’s performance, as Tony Gianfreda skillfully alternates between soft and intense vocal deliveries. The complex rhythms in the background add depth to the composition, enhancing the overall immersive experience. Moonoises pays homage to the 1980s and the early 1990s dark sound, seamlessly blending elements of Goth, Dark Wave, and Black Metal. The track “Black Beyond” not only showcases the band’s technical prowess but also their ability to evoke the nostalgic essence of a nostalgic musical era.
