Dreampop act Iceblynk releases new single ‘Enter the Sky’
Today, the Queens, NY-based dreampop quartet, Iceblynk, made up of Andrea Lynn (vocals) and brothers Martin (guitars, bassVI, keyboards), James Newman (bass) and Adam Sadowsky (drums) release their single, “Enter the Sky” via 5BC, the record label formed by shoegaze legends The Veldt. The single which features guitarist Martin Newman’s cleverly layered hypnotizing and dreamy guitar over danceable bass and drums while Andrea’s distinctive vocals leads us on an existential journey into an explosive chorus. From there, a solid drum groove and silky-smooth Fender BassVI steps in to lead the listener into a breakdown that threatens surf before riding a wave of sound to an abrupt end.
“‘Enter the Sky’ was recorded at American Nightmare drummer Alex Garcia-Rivera’s analog studio. This was the first song written and recorded with the band’s new line-up and according to Andrea, is about “the push and pull of our desire against the fear of the unknown; and hope that in the end it wasn’t all for nothing before we exit this reality and enter the sky.” It’s an emotionally charged and whimsical trip, with gently hypnotic guitar leading us in and soft vocals that reference the sensations of flowing like a dream and floating away. All of it beckoning us to lean in and listen closely. From quiet beginnings, “Enter the Sky” eventually bursts forth, intense in every sense with fevered layers of guitar and soaring vocals. Moments later, the rising tide finds resolution in an abrupt end to the journey.
