BIKE – Arte Bruta
BIKE is a Sao Paolo-based psychedelic rock band. The band has been touring since 2015, and since then, they have put out 4 albums: 1943 (2015), Em Busca da Viagem Eterna (2017), Their Shamanic Majesties Third Request (2018), and Quarto Templo (2019). With a single on the 30th Century Records Compilation, Vol. 1 from the well-known North American producer Danger Mouse, they attracted the attention of the general public and specialized critics.
The Brazilian band known for their eclectic sound and adventurous musical spirit, takes listeners on a captivating journey through time with their latest psychedelic rock album, “Arte Bruta.” Drawing influences from the psychedelic rock of the 1970s and the stoner rock scene of the 1990s, BIKE masterfully combines various elements to create a truly mesmerizing sonic experience. From the moment the album begins, the presence of the psychedelic rock of the 60s becomes immediately apparent. The band effortlessly weaves intricate melodies, swirling guitars, and trippy atmospheres reminiscent of the era’s legendary acts. The echoes of tropicalism and post-tropicalism from the early 70s add a touch of Brazilian flair, infusing the music with a unique cultural perspective.
However, what sets “Arte Bruta” apart is the evident influence of German progressive rock, particularly the krautrock movement of the same period. The rhythmic structures draw from krautrock, providing a solid foundation for the music to unfold. This rhythmic backbone acts as a support for the myriad of percussions that permeate the record, creating a dynamic and hypnotic soundscape. BIKE’s willingness to experiment and push boundaries is what puts “Arte Bruta” on another level in the band’s career. The incorporation of krautrock elements adds a new spice that unbalances the traditional psychedelic rock sound, resulting in a refreshing and exciting listen. The album constantly surprises and delights, with unexpected twists and turns that keep the listener engaged from start to finish.
