The Veldt, renowned pioneers of the shoegaze genre, make an exhilarating return with their long-awaited track, “The Everlasting Gobstopper.” This mesmerizing song serves as a tantalizing glimpse into their highly anticipated album, ‘Illuminated 1989,’ a release that has been shrouded in anticipation for decades. Produced by the legendary Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins fame in autumn 1989, and now remastered by him in 2023, this record was initially intended to be The Veldt’s first album. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, their label, Capital Records, shelved the recording, resulting in their debut ‘Marigolds’ album produced by Lincoln Fong of Moose.

As a precursor to the forthcoming full album, The Veldt has chosen to unveil the single both digitally and as a 12″ vinyl single via Disc Drive and 5BC Records. Accompanying the release is a visually captivating music video, skillfully produced by Jammi York and the late Yuko Sueta. Furthermore, the vinyl-exclusive B-side, ‘Joshuu Lullaby,’ offers fans a previously unreleased gem, produced by Robin Guthrie in 2023.
